One of the best replacement options for missing or non-restorable teeth is a dental implant. Implants are made from a chemically inert titanium and resemble a screw, which can support numerous types of restorations. Implants are placed within the jaw bone, following a specific amount of healing time, they can be used to support a crowns, bridges, or to stabilize dentures or partials.
What are benefits of implant placement?
Our doctor will review your health history to ensure no contraindications are present. A Cone Beam CT scan may be needed to aid in identifying the best positioning for implant placement to help avoid vital anatomical structures. Bone grafting procedure may be recommended either at the time of tooth extraction or when implant is placed to facilitate success of implantation. If you would like to hear more about the above listed procedures, schedule your consultation with Dr. Kristina today!
Living with missing teeth can be embarrassing and can take a toll on your ability to eat and even speak. Unsightly gaps from missing teeth can be filled with a fixed restoration such as a dental bridge. It consists of 2 dental crowns on the teeth surrounding the gap, and a floating tooth in the middle. Once the teeth are prepared and the restoration is fabricated by the lab, it is cemented on and does not come out of the mouth. Bridge is a great replacement option for a missing tooth, ask your doctor if this is the best solution for you. Other treatment options, such as implants and removable partials are available.
Proper oral hygiene following treatment is of outmost importance. To prevent recurrent decay around crowned/bridge supported teeth, make sure to diligently clean and floss the area where the tooth structure meets the crown or bridge, and don’t forget to come to our office for regular check ups. A dental crown can help restore and strengthen a cracked, structurally compromised tooth back to its original shape. Dental rowns can be fabricated from various materials such as: zirconia, E-max, porcelain fused to metal, and gold. Your doctor will help you choose the right material based on your dental needs.
Crown preparation procedure involves modifying the shape of your natural tooth to allow enough room for placement of a crown restoration. Once the tooth is prepared, we take a digital impression and fabricate your temporary crown, which is worn for approximately 2-3 weeks until a permanent crown is made by the lab. Permanent crown is tried in to ensure a perfect fit, necessary adjustments are made, and the final restoration is cemented. A crowned tooth is now protected and ready to function.
What are some of the reasons why a crown can be recommended?
